Easter New Life

20th April 2025. Easter for me is always good – the occasion for the biggest celebration in the Christian calendar. It started well on Good Friday for Ingria and me when a change of plan saw us joining the Open-air United service in Wallingford Market Place. This has always been a joyous and public-attracting event – especially in dry weather. Most of the churches in the locality were represented, aand the Ridgeway music band were as good as ever, and their pastor Gareth Lloyd-Jones unfailingly expressed the Gospel message in his Manchester (City!) tones. I was especially impressed with the content and style of the Intercessions led by Cholsey Vicar Rebecca Peters whom I encountered for the first time.

Today we attended all-day worship at John Bunyan Baptist in Cowley. For various reasons we had missed a month of morning services at the English service, but we were remembered and welcomed back. I was pleased to be asked to offer a public prayer for the healing of various unwell members. The highlight was the Easter presentation in dance, song and narrative by younger members of the People’s (Brazilian) Baptist Church, who normally worship on Saturday evenings,

After a break we returned for the Burmese Mission Church Meeting, which we attend most often. They are a small fellowship, with the current tragedy in Myanmar (Civil War and Earthquke) weighing heavily upon them, but with great faith, led by pastors Gin and Man who share a worldwide ministry. They and we in the congregation are praying now every Tuesday for revival, and our new Hungarian friend is prolific in street evangelism, as Pastor Man has always been. We are believing for an ingress in the summer of Burmese Christians worldwide to spearhead a Gospel Healing campaign.

As Ingria and I left for home after a Burmese Easter supper, we discovered in the building yet a fourth church group gathering for worship – the ‘Potter’s House’. This place in Temple Cowley is truly a strategic lighthouse for a spiritually hungry and needy people. May God bless and foster it!

Happy Easter to our praying supporters!
