6th October 2025. I realise I did not produce a post in September – unusual , as I try to come up with something every month. However, I did offer two in August, so these things balance out; and I’m pretty sure that few – if any – of my small band of readers noticed!
Yesterday Ingria and I took a Sunday off from our regular commitments in Cowley, as we made a return to the place where our relationship really began and our call to Healing ministry. The ‘Word of Life’ Church in Camberwell, South London is an African church attended by mainly Ugandans and Nigerians, occupying a businees estate along with a few other congregations. It is somewhat unusual in that its Pastor has been leading there for over thirty years, and he has exercised Bible-teaching and Prophetic ministry. Most readers will know that on my first visit there in 2018, along with Ingria – my ‘ladyfriend’ of a few weeks’ standing – who had attended before, Prophet David Opoku pronounced to Ingria that she would spend the rest of her life in Oxford (she was living in North London); then called me out and affirmed that I would exercize a healing and prophetic ministry – never having set eyes on me before nor knowing a thing about me other than what God’s Spirit revealed to him.
Having commenced our Oxford ministry about two years ago in Cowley with John Bunyan Baptist Church and the Burmese Mission Church together with the surprise extra ministry in Swindon Community Church, we felt in need of further spiritual support, because – as will be familiar to all pioneers of new Christian ministries – the spiritual attacks increase as the Powers of darkness take notice and seek to undermine and menace you. These take different forms; for us a minor car crash about 5 miles short of our brief getaway destination in North Wales (which has resulted in a ‘write-off’ with potential financial implications), some minor health issues for Ingria, protracted difficulties with our domestic heating, and others which we would not wish to enlarge upon.
Burmese pastors Gin and Man have become tremendous spiritual ‘rocks’ for us in facing some of these things, and we value our Tuesday Prayer Meetings with them, but they are currently on one of their frequent visits abroad supporting their churches and doing local evangelism with them. It was wonderful when Prophet David gave us an extra special greeting when we joined the congregation in walking to the front to make our offerings. Following that, he spoke prophetic words – typically in some detail – to various persons in the congregation. He then, uniquely, called us to the front and he declared that “everyone that you lay hands upon will be healed”. Afterwards, he took us into his office, as we had requested, and discussed and prayed for some important personal and ministry issues.
His church is not where we are called to serve, but it is our ‘prophetic home’, and a place we know we shall always find support and direction. A ‘Home from Home’
