“My Late Harvest (An old man dreams)”, whose title will be familiar to winemakers, is about the ‘new wine of the Holy Spirit’ in my life. It starts with the life-changing encounter with an African Prophet in London, in which my new ladyfriend was called to move to Oxfordshire (where we would be married) and I was directed to administer healing in Jesus’ name. The ‘mini-memoir’ traces events earlier in my life, notably a written-down longing to have a healing gift which I then ruled out, and hearing the clear voice of God when unexpectedly encountering a runner-beans plant in full second fruition while I was recovering from a heart-attack and clinical depression. I recount the heartache of gradually losing my first wife to Dementia, and several brushes with life-threatening events. List Price: Paperback MLHp £5.30 + p&p / eBook £3.77

“A Socially-Distanced Healing Ministry (Bible Healings viewed through a Covid-19 lens)” My 2nd book was birthed in the ‘Covid-19’ Pandemic, which closed buildings and severely disrupted normal family and social relationships, and threatened to strangle my fledgling healing ministry. In God’s providence, ‘Zoom’ emerged from nowhere (as depicted on the front cover photo), and I was invited to help leading midday prayer sessions with members of my church. When ‘laying-on-of hands’ and ‘anointing’ were ruled out other than on exceptional occasions, God led me to offer regular teaching on the essentials of divine healing. This book records all the Biblical accounts of healings which formed that series. Its aim? – to raise listeners/readers’ faith in God for healing. Not to magnify our faith, but to magnify God in our eyes and respond with our little faith. List Price : Paperback Code SDHMp £6.99 +p&p / eBook £4.32

“Biblical Meditation – your Spiritual Medication” records the series of talks and exercises I did in my next series of Midday Prayers. Its aim? – to continue to build faith in God’s healing, by taking single texts of scripture in groups entitled “Precious Promises”, “Awesome Assurances”, “Important Instructions” and “Wisdom’s Warnings”, and meditating on them. Taking inspiration from Rev. Norman Vincent Peale’s writings, the book invites us regularly to imbibe a healing and refreshing word from God for our spiritual healing, just as we (or instead of) drink a soluble painkiller to soothe painful nerve ends. Early in my ministry, Peale taught me the ‘Power of Positive Thinking’ – not as an exercise in ‘autosuggestion’ (beloved of popular psychology), but as an application of the life-giving Word of God – to build and maintain spiritual health. The current interest in ‘Mindfulness’ may be a resource for many people’s mental health, but Biblical meditation is of far more use to the believer. The former invites us to ’empty our minds’ (and refill them with what?); the latter invites us to empty our hearts of sins, and be filled afresh with the forgiving grace of God and the ‘living water’ of his Spirit.
